During my thesis and first post-doc year, I worked with healthy humans as well as patients with depression and schizophrenia, investigating sleep related memory processes with polysomnography and functional MR imaging at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich. I then spend 4 years in Richard Morris lab in Edinburgh working with rodents. I moved to Nijmegen in 2016 to now combine human and animal research. My main focus are cross-brain mechanisms of sleep and memory processes in rodents using complex and meaningful behavioural tasks.
I have received the Branco Weiss - Society in Science Fellowship (2014), Radboud Excellence Fellowship (2017), Christine Mohrmann Fellowship (2017), a NWO VIDI grant (2018), Radboud Science Award (2022), ERC Consolidator Grant (2023) and become a FENS-Kavli Fellow (2023). In 2015 I was awarded the Early Career Scientist Award of the German Sleep Research Foundation.
